Exploring trainee psychologists’ preparedness to work with people with bipolar disorder

Description
We have evidence that psychological interventions can help people with bipolar disorder manage residual symptoms and avoid future relapses. However, many people with this diagnosis do not receive psychological interventions as part of their treatment. To better understand barriers to receiving psychological care, we will investigate the training Australian psychologists receive on interventions for bipolar disorder, and their self-perceived knowledge, and attitudes towards working therapeutically with this population. There is scope to build off this survey to co-design and evaluate educational initiatives to help prepare psychologists to work with people with bipolar disorder.
