Developing an education program for health professionals in consumer and other stakeholder engagement: a qualitative interview study

Description
Active involvement of people with lived experience or patients (consumers) to improve healthcare services and health and medical research is fundamental to systemwide healthcare change. Known as Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI), this space is a rapidly advancing field and we are undertaking significant work to embed genuine, best practice CCI in research and health services to deliver value and improved outcomes to our community. The needs of researchers and consumers to engage in CCI have been addressed more than the specific needs of health professionals who engage with consumers for quality improvement projects in the clinical setting. This qualitative project will involve interviews with health professionals and people in health service positions to develop tailored training content.
