Developing narratives of excellence in Consumer and Stakeholder Engagement

Description
Active involvement of people with lived experience or patients (consumers) to improve healthcare services and health and medical research is fundamental to systemwide healthcare change. Known as Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI), this space is a rapidly advancing field and we are undertaking significant work to embed genuine, best practice CCI in research and health services to deliver value and improved outcomes to our community. Currently, exemplars of excellent CCI are not well documented. By featuring how CCI has been done in various settings would increase the awareness and confidence of researchers and clinicians to involve consumers in their work. This qualitative project will involve interviewing clinicians, researchers and consumers from diverse areas of work to develop a library of high-quality examples of different methods and contexts for consumer and community involvement. The work will contribute to a national knowledge hub that is being developed to support networking and adoption of consumer and community involvement.
